Hello Staff,
Our current Internet Content Filter is expiring the end of July so we are in the process of testing some new solutions.
This afternoon I was working with the support team from one of those new solutions to install a trial filter. As we were installing the system the base default policy took over which started removing all Chromebook apps and extensions that were previously installed on student Chromebooks.
This has now been corrected, unfortunately students will need to reinstall any of the educational tools that they previously had installed.
Moving forward I would be interested in hearing how you use or search for apps for your classroom. We have had many issues with apps and extensions causing the Chromebooks to slow down and in some cases stop working correctly.
Would it be possible for me to compile a list of apps that are in use to create an approved list that students could install? If you came across a new app that you wanted to use we could quickly add that app to the approved list. This might help alleviate some parent concerns that their children are free to install pretty much any app that they want.
Thanks for your feedback.
